The Rain Artist Wins Gold at the Foreword INDIES Awards
Major congratulations to author Claire Rudy Foster, whose debut novel The Rain Artist won the Gold Medal in Science Fiction at the Foreword INDIES Awards. Moonstruck Books is proud to publish genre-defying, transgressive stories by non-traditional authors. Plenty of presses talk allyship, but we put our money where our mouths are: Foster is a nonbinary transgender writer whose work explores culture through a unique and provocative lens. As a queer-run press, we know that we’re only as strong as our most vulnerable community members. Foster’s win is well-deserved and we are grateful to be a home for their work. Here’s what Foster said about their win:
I wasn’t sure how, when, or why to share this momentous news—but now seems like as good a time as any. I am truly overwhelmed by this honor. I never expected to win any prizes, especially not the Gold Medal, especially not for a debut novel, especially not with a micro-press, especially not for a new-to-me genre. I am often nominated but never the tallest on the podium. So I am humbled by the generous consideration given to THE RAIN ARTIST. And the support of my friends and readers who embraced this spiky book, gave it (and me) a chance. Thank you to everyone supporting my writing. You always make me feel like a winner.
You can order your copy of the book—with its newly designed cover!—in our shop, or anywhere high-quality dystopian horror is sold. Librarians, booksellers, and other folks who wish to order multiple copies can contact Moonstruck Books with any questions. The Rain Artist can be ordered on Ingram, ISBN: 979-8-9888154-0-2.
