Fodder by Jasmine Ledesma
Available for preorder! Available November 24, 2026. ISBN: 979-8-9991901-2-3
Fodder is an experimental novel detailing the career of Mary, a Texas-bred journalist based in Cincinnati. We follow her as she travels across the nation, attempting to unveil the promise of Americana. We watch her grow from an excitable and passionate writer into a cold, suspicious being as she profiles an assortment of characters; from a teenage drug dealer, a woman a few weeks out of a suicide attempt, those loitering around a gas station in Texas, a pop star, a saturation diver, and his wife to a millionaire among others. As her career progresses and more commercial opportunities arise, Mary becomes more and more dissatisfied with the state of her work, feeling more and more like a phony, a mere stand-in for the audience that only wants more. This dissatisfaction leads her to look outside of herself in a devastating and awe-inspiring way. Fodder reveals what’s behind the rose-colored glasses—a look behind the curtain of lust.
Electrifying prose on the subjects of alienation and addiction … Reading this for the first time reminded me of how it felt to read Denis Johnson and Ottessa Moshfegh for the first time. Packs such a punch in such a short amount of time that it leaves you feeling dazed. I can’t wait to see what other work Jasmine Ledesma has in store for the world. —Goodreads review of Acid In Georgia (Bottlecap Press, 2023)
